Who Are We
T’ena Health is a community-centric nonprofit that aims to bring preventive healthcare services to historically underserved, under-resourced, and marginalized communities. T’ena recognizes that access to quality healthcare, resources, and health education can be difficult to obtain in many communities, and works hard to bridge this gap. Composed primarily of Los Angeles County natives, the team draws upon the six social determinants of health to provide services that support the health and wellness of their neighborhoods and beyond. T’ena believes in empowering others to have the tools, knowledge, and resources they need to live a healthy and enriched life.
Our Initiatives
Free Health Fairs
T’ena Health fairs are an excellent way to provide the community with access to learn more about their healt! By teaming up with various healthcare programs from local universities and colleges, the health fairs offer free health screenings, health education, medication consultation, and connections to any free or low-cost resources. The health fairs are free for all people. ID, insurance, or registration is never required. Anybody and everybody is always welcome!
Homies Care
Powered by compassion, our Homies Care initiative involves the assembly and distribution of our hygiene kits, which we call Care Kits. This provides any community member who may be in need of some extra love with daily hygiene essentials and an encouraging hand-written message! Our kits are distributed all throughout Los Angeles County with the help of our amazing community partners.

Diversifying Healthcare
As part of our mission to eradicate health disparities, we work to ensure that underrepresented populations in healthcare have a seat at the table. We believe culturally competent healthcare providers that look like the community they serve is important. In addition to our volunteer opportunities, we also host internships that include training, certifications, field experience, workshops, admission talks, professional development, and mentorship. Our internship programming is developed to satisfy some of the requirements for admission to graduate-level healthcare programs.
We invite undergraduate/gap year students with backgrounds in Pre-Health, Pre-PA, Pre-Pharm, Pre-Med, and any health-related career path to join us. We are committed to fostering diversity and inclusion within our team. Therefore, we strongly encourage candidates from diverse, underrepresented, and minority backgrounds to apply.
The internship program is offered in the Spring and Fall. Sign up for our newsletter and follow us on Instagram to stay up to date on when we are accepting applications!
